On July 5th,  the 9th Inspiration session of the OStogether group was held to critically discuss and ideate on: Evaluation approaches for measuring the impact of open schooling. The session was for the first time opened to the public, and more than 42 participants joined forces to share their practices for evidence based evaluation of impact in Open Schooling projects. A great focus was also given to the element of Policy making that is considered critical to achieve each projects´ objectives. In particular, the goals were set around:

  • Identifying potential collaborations among projects
  • Brainstorming evidence & strategies to support OS together
  • Being aware of OS evaluation approaches
  • Discussing how Policy Makers can be engaged

The session started with introductions and a warm-up exercise, and then continued with a round table presentations of the evaluation methodologies that each Horizon2020 project is incorporating. The overview of  the methodologies helped the participants analyze more in deep commonalties and come up with great strategies to enhance the evidence gathering towards promoting the upscaling OStogether and Open Schooling practices. Moreover, ways to go beyond just a partnership of Horizon projects were introducved and we are very excited to let you know that we are up to the challenge!

In the last part of the session, two focus discussions were held about “how can Policy Makers be engaged to reduce challenges and maximise findings” with Dr. Peter Gray – EU project research advisor and evaluator, and also about the catalyzing effect of the “EU Innovation Summit” with Dr. Andreia Santos – EU senior researcher.
