CONNECT project has joined the initiative “Open Schooling Together” composed of 9 EU-funded projects linked to science education innovation, involving organisations from 33 different countries. These projects are planting the seed for new education systems that foster the competencies that modern societies require, and that will help align research and innovation processes to societal values, needs, and expectations.
All these projects together have joined forces to promote the concept of open schooling: a concrete new way to approach science education programs by cultivating partnerships between schools and their surrounding communities. Students, teachers, and other relevant local actors are invited to rethink together the way they work, develop new projects to address local challenges, contribute to community well-being, and promote an active global citizenship attitude.
Our first Newsletter was recently launched. This newsletter features an interview with Karen Slavin, the European Commission’s policy officer responsible for the calls funding the projects comprising Open Schooling Together; it introduces the projects behind this initiative and their unique approaches to open schooling.
