Scientific Coordinator and Principal Investigator
Dr. Alexandra Okada is an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher at the Open University in the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her expertise lies at intersections between Science Education, Technology Enhanced Learning and Teachers’ Professional Development. Her work centres on co-creating scientifically new frameworks, methods and tools for constructing and extending knowledge-in-context. Her studies draw on sociocultural theory, critical pedagogy and mixed methods to explore how to prepare the next generation for Responsible Research and Innovation. “RRI” aims to align scientific development with societal needs through the interaction of five sectors: 1. educational communities, 2. scientific institutions, 3. business/industry, 4. civil society organisations and 5. policy makers. She holds a BSc Computer Science (Hons); MA (Education: Curriculum); Postgraduate qualification in Further Education (PGCFE), MBA (Knowledge Management and Science Communication); PhD (Education: Technology-enhanced learning).

OU-ECYS | WP8 Ethics Expert Leader
John Oates is Professor of Developmental Psychology in the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies. His primary research areas are perinatal mental health and interventions for children with disabilities, special needs and disadvantage. He is a member of the British Psychological Society Ethics Committee, lead for the Society’s Code of Human Research Ethics and the Media Ethics Advisory Group. He established and chaired for seven years the Open University Human Research Ethics Committee. He is an ethics reviewer for the European Research Council and member of the European Commission Community of Experts. John led the project to develop the United Kingdom Research Integrity Office’s Research Ethics and Review framework.

Rosina té com a objectiu contribuir a implementar transformacions sistèmiques en paral·lel als canvis en el sistema d’R+I (Recerca I Innovació) fent-les més obertes, inclusives i transdisciplinars amb l’objectiu d’aconseguir solucions d’alt impacte per a reptes socials complexos. Ofereix assessorament i facilitació d’ecosistemes d’innovació multi-actors on se’ls convida a participar en reflexions estratègiques i a co-dissenyar i co-implementar plans d’acció per promoure l’alineació i millora de les solucions actuals així com co-dissenyar-ne de noves, incloent-hi polítiques, serveis i solucions de R&I, entre d’altres. Rosina ofereix formació en diferents graus i postgraus de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB) i la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) i també en altres universitats, organitzacions de recerca i agències d’innovació i ja ha format més de 5.000 investigadors i innovadors. Rosina ha treballat prèviament al Parc Científic de Barcelona i als museus de ciències de Barcelona i Londres i ha participat com a PI en 10 projectes finançats per la CE relacionats amb l’RRI i l’educació durant els últims 15 anys (RRI Tools, Fit4Food2030, EnRRICH, InSPIRES, etc.).

Aina es va llicenciar en Ciències Biomèdiques per la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona el 2017. Posteriorment, va completar un Màster en Recerca Clínica centrat en Salut Internacional, a l’Institut de Salut Global (ISGlobal) i a la Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Va començar a treballar al Living Lab quan estava realitzant el seu Treball de Fi de Màster (TFM) realitzant una Recerca Participativa Basada en la Comunitat (CBPR, en anglès )i es va unir al projecte europeu InSPIRES així com a altres projectes educatius. El 2019 va completar el Màster d’Educació Secundària a la UPF-UOC. Dóna suport als processos iteratius de reflexió estratègica col·laborativa i processos de cocreació amb ecosistemes multi-actors per accelerar el canvi transformador sistèmic desenvolupat pel Living Lab.

Mihai BÎZOI is Associate Professor, Ph.D. in the Department of Automatic Control, Informatics and Electrical Engineering. He was involved in different ICT projects (research and educational) at national and international level and also in teacher training programmes (related to the use of ICT in education and sustainable development). His current research interests include communication-driven decision support systems, group decision support systems, web collaborative technologies, e-learning platforms, virtual instrumentation, multi-linguistic cooperative environments. He actively participated in European projects that claimed the use of modern technologies in education, being a key person on designing the specification and suitable software applications, but also on sustaining the teachers’ continuous professional development programmes.

Ana Maria Suduc is Associate Professor, Ph.D, in the Department of Automatic Control, Informatics and Electrical Engineering and she was involved as member or local coordinator, in national and European projects (FP7, LLP and Erasmus+), most of these projects being about integrating the use of modern technologies in education, to foster the development of social, civic, intercultural competences. Laura Monica GORGHIU is Associate Professor, Ph.D., in the Sciences and Advanced Technologies Department, Faculty of Sciences and Arts. She has experience in academic management and projects management, being involved as coordinator or team member in 30 research contracts and international/national projects in the areas of ICT in education and Science education. She has great experience in creating and organizing specific frames for developing on-line courses dedicated to in-service teachers and specific training modules for introducing ICT in education, pedagogical use of ICT, e-learning / cooperative platforms, Teacher Training Course for in-service teachers in foreign languages, RRI issues, making analysis and linking with the primary and secondary educational environment.

Responsible for school partnerships in Romania
Gabriel GORGHIU is Professor, Ph.D., at Teacher Training Department and has great experience in working on the European programmes as he was involved since 1995 in different projects on Tempus, World Bank, Socrates, LLP and FP7 frameworks. His area of interest is oriented on educational technologies – e-learning, interaction and virtual communication, web-based learning platforms, using ICT for educational purposes, teacher training, RRI issues. He acted as local coordinator of the FP7 projects: “PROFILES – Professional Reflection Oriented Focus on Inquiry-based Learning and Education through Science” and “IRRESISTIBLE – Including Responsible Research and Innovation in Cutting Edge Science and Inquiry-based Science Education to Improve Teacher’s Ability of Bridging Learning.
